Cleaning & Lubrication

There are few moving parts on a computer, but the ones that do move are the cooling fans that cool the power supply, CPU and some video cards and other boards depending on the manufacturer.  As part of an annual inspection, we lubricate the fan bushings or bearings with high quality turbine oil which keeps them running smoothly and quietly.

These cooling fans are extremely important to ensure a long life for your computer and expensive repairs being required that were not necessary if serviced properly..

Should any of your computers fans quit for any reason, serious damage can take place to your CPU,  video cards, or power supplies which could potentially damage the main motherboard or video card.

All computers should be professionally check at least once a year to avoid these problems.  If you hear any unusual sounds coming from your computer,  or the computer smells or feels hot,   you should discontinue using it until such time it has been checked and repaired.  Check the rear cooling vent of your computer case to ensure there is air flow moving out of the case proper ( you should be able to feel air flow), if not,  DISCONTINUE USING YOUR COMPUTER UNTIL IT IS REPAIRED !

Generally, cooling fans are not repairable, as the bushing or bearing wear out and the fan unit requires replacement and are relatively inexpensive to replace.  Fans with bearings, rather then bushings usually cost a little more, but offer longer life and generally are quieter.
